EP COURSE

This course covers environmental sustainability concepts, local laws and regulations, and tools available to assist businesses with the development and management of an environmental program for their business. Developed with the business owners in mind, this six month training course includes virtual instruction taught in part by environmental subject matter experts and local environmental organizations.

OUR ENVIRONMENTAL PROFESSIONAL  GRADUATES

Our EP class of 2023 & 2024 have successfully completed their program. The graduates have acquired a comprehensive understanding of how to promote sustainability and green practices in our county, and are now well-equipped to serve as environmental stewards in their community.

"I read about the Environmental Professional Certificate classes online and decided to explore the course as an environmentally aware and concerned Prince William County citizen actively engaged in promoting water, soil and environmental conservation efforts as a volunteer Master Gardener. I learned a lot about Federal, State, and Local environmental laws, regulations, and protections. The field trips to various businesses around the county only highlighted what I learned in the classroom. I met some wonderful, talented, and intelligent people and enjoyed our very knowledgeable Instructor Rico Fleshman's easygoing approach while learning about environmental issues impacting our county and state. I recommend it for everyone who is passionate about our environment!"

NETWORKING & CONFERENCE

Quarterly conference events feature speakers and educational sessions, providing members with the opportunity to learn best practices from environmental professionals, PWC leadership, and peer organizations. The events also include an annual awards recognition ceremony. This is a great opportunity to network with other businesses, organizations, and environmental professionals who can become valuable contacts for future projects.

RESOURCES

This toolkit synthesizes the best thinking about environmental sustainability measures and programs, laws and regulations, and local related information to facilitate the practical and beneficial adoption of these practices by businesses. Portions of this toolkit were developed using publicly available content provided by the Office of Environmental Education at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) through the Environmental Educational Training Partnership (EETAP), environmental education guidelines set forth by the North American Association for Environmental Education (NAAEE), the U.S. Department of Energy, Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ), and environmental agencies within Prince William County Government.

At our annual conference, we host our PWCGBC Environmental recognition awards to businesses that have become great environmental stewards through actions and showing  their achievements for multiple sustainable contributions to their community and business.
